Meet the startups: Grounded AI

Grounded AI is improving the fact-checking capacity of existing AI products. Their technology aims to address the problems of hallucinations that affect large language models. The company is based in the UK.

Their proof-of-concept LLM, Veracity API, acts as a middleman between AI systems and users, providing fast fact-checking to combat misinformation. The startup's ambition is to increase trust in AI products, particularly in critical fields like publishing and law.

Grounded AI will use Northern Data Group’s AI Accelerator to scale its product, using the compute power provided to improve its dataset and accuracy.

Q&A

AI has a trust problem. We currently cannot trust AI because it doesn't check its facts. This leads to users losing trust not only in AI but in the information landscape at large.

Grounded AI is building a Veracity Engine to help fix that. We're starting with fields where reference to citations and facts is of heightened importance (Science and Law). Our big picture goal is to offer Veracity Engine more broadly.

We use AI to parse scientific knowledge and repositories of common knowledge. These are tasks that would be untenable without significant automation. AI is great for parsing but needs strong guardrails to maintain accuracy and prevent hallucination.
We are thrilled by the opportunity to use Northern Data Group's infrastructure as part of the AI Accelerator. This will allow us to parse large repositories of scientific and common knowledge. The dataset will allow us to accelerate our product development. This will certainly give us a kickstart.
